Haiku Bamboo Nursery/Farm

Keiji Oshima from Japan moved to North Carolina, USA in 1978 and opened Haiku Bamboo Nursery/Farm 1988 located near Asheville, North Carolina with his wife Stefani. Their Nursery/Farm is dedicated sustainable and ecological growing practices producing bamboo plants, bamboo shoot and bamboo poles for shakuhachi making. As ecological growers Oshima strive to provide an opportunity for bamboo plants and chickens to thrive expressing their own unique characteristics in a natural environment. Bamboo to be bamboo, earthworm to be earthworm, chicken to be chicken.

Haiku Bamboo Nursery/Farm is proud to offer a high quality bamboo plants and bamboo poles. The bamboo has been grown with attention/observation/care/cure to produce good quality blank poles for shakuhachi makers. Oshima makes shakuhachi himself. Cured/treated bamboo with root end and without root are for sale. Through hard work, attention to details and quality the bamboo sold will be ready for the artist/craft maker to begin their part of the work.
